History
Pre-series
100 years prior to the events of the series, due to the Explorers's arrival in Laqua atop the mountain, the Laquium there started growing and expanding and caused a huge explosion that blotted out the sun for three days and was felt all over the mountain, including Pericarp Town, which made many of the inhabitants, including a 3 year old girl, fear the Black Rayquaza, that flew into the skies just after the explosion. A member of the Explorers named Gibeon managed to escape Laqua and eventually reach Pericarp Town, where his injuries were treated by the mother of the 3 year old girl. He then started living there and stablished the new Explorers's headquarters there to observe Laqua.
Pokémon Horizons: The Series
After gathering all of the Six Heroes in The Truth Revealed!, the Rising Volt Tacklers followed the Black Rayquaza on their Brave Olivine to Mount Pericarp, where they landed on the mountain and Liko, Roy, Dot, and Friede went to the Town to gather information about Laqua. In Where the Land Meets the Sky, the kids met Yuha, a boy who believed that the Black Rayquaza would bring disaster, but after fighting off a swarm of Vibrava together, they convinced him that Rayquaza wasn't a bad sign. Meanwhile, Friede met the town's Matriarch, an old woman who had seen the Black Rayquaza when she was little, giving him some important information about Gibeon and what happened in Laqua. The group then reunited and left the town to travel to Laqua.
In HZ133, the Rising Volt Tacklers and their allies fly pass Pericarp Town on their way to Laqua, which is seen by the townspeople and believed they were here to cause trouble until Yuha defended them. In the next episode, Pericarp Town became under attack by the Pokémon who live in town when the Laquium mist reached their area, as the townspeople are quick to blame the Rising Volt Tacklers. However, Ludlow as Mighty G, Orla, Murdock, and Mollie arrived in the Brave Olivine to help the townspeople alongside the Pokémon while Wy-Yes and Perrin take pictures. Seeing these actions, the townspeople start realizing that the Rising Volt Tacklers aren't bad guys, after all, much to the delight of Yuha.
